Parking for Bikes
There has been a call for a bike path across the common, a large and expensive project .

Meanwhile, there is no part of Bishopston or Murton that has places to park and secure bikes. These would be particularly useful outside the Joiners / Valley where the current arrangement is all in favour of drivers.

So the places that would benefit from bike parking spots;
• The Day Room
• Murton Post Office
• Pyle Post Office
• The Co-op
• The Valley and the Joiners

And of course;
• The School/s

Cars dominate and rule this village, do you think that could change?

Create Bishopston & Murton Youth Council
Do you think young people in Bishopston & Murton would benefit from having a Youth Council? We have a Community Council but in order to sit on it you must be 18+. This could give our young people a voice and a say in the future of their community.

Skateramp and shelter in Bishopston
This could fit in with the ideas for places for older children and young people to hang out. The closest skate park is down in Blackpill since the Pennard one was removed, this isn't ideal for kids who want to skate. It would need to be away from immediate houses and have rubbish provision but would give a traffic free space for kids using both skateboards, bikes and scooters to be outside. It's great practice for our young (and older!) surfing community to practice on skateboards when the waves are small. A shelter would mean young people would have somewhere to hang out during wet weather and still make it a viable space for them to use.

We are looking to create an outdoor skateboarding facility for children to meet, socialise, play and have fun in a safe, free-to-use environment. It will benefit the whole community; local children and adults of all ages, gender and race, are able to use the skatepark, using bikes, scooters and skateboards that they already have. It will also give parents peace of mind.

Children are spending more time in-doors, on phones, iPads and Social Media and the mental and physical well-being of children is suffering. They need a fun and engaging outdoor space for activities and to interact with one another and build vital social and interpersonal skills. This will have long term benefits and a positive impact on our community. An alternative for kids who are struggling to identify with team sports, this can give them a sense of belonging.

Outdoor Exercise Equipment
There is equipment along the promenade in Swansea and it is really well used. This would give older children and adults access to free-to-use exercise equipment encouraging a more healthy lifestyle.

A Youth Club Bus
The Eden Bus from The Message Trust would visit your community on one evening a week. The bus is kitted out with three games consoles, 3 Apple Macs, a soft seated area, a nail bar, an area for playing games or doing craft or homework and a sound booth area which is used more for karaoke.

This club is aimed at older youth of Comprehensive school age.

On an evening we will park the bus up for an hour and a half. During this time it will be chance to engage with youngsters, allow them to have time on the bus and we will also be doing a 7 min talk about life things for young people (this will have a Christian message).

Youth Club
Lots of young people live and go to school in Bishopston but there is nowhere for them to get together and have fun/chill out. Ideally they would have a space they could call their own complete with chill out areas, room to play and wi-fi access.

Conversation Cafe
Young People are interested in a wide range of topics. We could set up a Conversation Cafe for young people to have the opportunity to learn about different topics that interest them. For example Environmental or Political topics.

The young people would decide what they want to know more about and the Cafes would be attended by an expert in the area who would be able to answer questions and have a lively discussion in a relaxed environment.
