Our Priorities

Showing you 1 to 9 of 9 ideas of our priorities
Install drinking fountains at popular locations
To reduce the amount of plastic waste in our community, install a drinking fountain at the cliffs and playing field and outside the shops in Kittle. They can be for re-filling water bottles and the more traditional drinking fountain.

More dog poo bins across the cliffs and toward the castle
Face up to it. There's poop/discarded bags everywhere out there. The current solution isn't working. Alternative to more bins and hopefully more responsible ownership would be a clean up team.

Eco Youth Council at Gower Roundhouse.
To provide a base for a 'Gower youth council' at Gower Unearthed's new roundhouse facility at Parkmill. The incentive is to create a community hub for Gower ward that provides young people with a project and a voice that allows them to have an active part in their community-with an environmental focus. The main objective is to provide courses and activities to educate or help young people actively protect their local environment and heritage

Recycle Plastic Bottles to Pay for Parking
People hate to pay for parking so why not encourage the use of the National Trust car park at Pennard Cliffs by allowing part payment by recycling plastic bottles.

Not only could this encourage a quick clean up of the car park and surrounding area but it could help reduce the impact of indiscriminate parking on local residents too!

More bins at Pennard Roundabout
The bins at Pennard Roundabout get over-full in the summer and rubbish that people leave at the side of them ends up getting blown about.

One solution could be to have more bins, preferably with increased recycle facilities.

Create residents parking permit scheme.
There are a lot of issues locally with parking. In some areas visitors, tourists and dog walkers can be very inconsiderate and block people's drives with their parking.

Some areas of our community also contain multiple unused vehicles which are rarely moved and are a blight on our area of outstanding natural beauty. Some are clearly used for storage rather thanas cars but completely legal as they are taxed and insured.

It seems that although many complaints over many years have been made to police, community and council the law allows this to continue.

There could be residents parking permits to encourage those with more vehicles than occupants to find somewhere appropriate for their collections and therefore encouraging pride in our community and allowing people to park near their properties, especially those with mobility issues.

Improved road signage on the Gower commons
The dilapidated and missing signage at the entrances to the Gower commons needs to be replaced urgently!
The existing signage was funded and installed by the Gower Commons initiative in circa 1998 and are now badly in need of replacement.
New signs will warn drivers of free roaming livestock and Animals crossing the roads.
They will beed to be placed near each Cattlegrid on Fairwood, Pengwern and Cefn Bryn where possible.
Hopefully this will raise awareness of the animals, slow traffic and reduce animal deaths.
There have been 9 animal deaths since the beginning of December 2019 already!
Please vote for this initiative and help make the Gower roads safer for everyone.

Hanging Baskets
Please can we have more hanging baskets next year. The baskets situated by the community hall would be seen by more people if they were on the main road. They would make Pennard look friendly and more welcoming to visitors.
