Right Royal Quiz
This is more than an idea. It's actually happening. The hall social committee and Roger Button are organising a fun Quiz for 7.30 on Monday 8th May.

An inscription or plaque on one of the Church capping stones by the Peace Stone to explain its origins
The Peace Stone on the green outside St Mary's was erected to mark 100 years since WWI. Rather than commemorate it was decided to celebrate, hence the term Peace Stone. A condition of its erection was that no inscription or plaque was placed/carved on the stone or adjacent to it on the green. Over time however, its meaning may be lost.

A simple explanatory name plaque for the Peace Stone could be placed (with any appropriate permission & consents) on one of the vertical capping stones on the Church wall by the Peace Stone.

Plant more trees!
For the coronation of QEII the community planted a tree for each child in the village from Kimley Moor Farm to Pilton Green. For one of the recent Jubilee occasions saplings were planted to replace missing trees lost over time. Since these last few years past, a number of trees have decayed or been lost to the hedge trimmer, etc., and the numbers once again have noticeably diminished.

Some of the mature trees look past their best and recent tree fungal/beetle attacks have weakened some. Horse-chestnut trees seem to thrive in Rhossili which of course will last much longer than alder, birch etc. Careful choice is important: I suggest spend more on more established young trees. Consultation with an arboriculturist is recommended to assist in choosing the right trees.
